MEDIA RELEASE
25 July 2025
Bedford Group
Member for Stuart, Hon Geoff Brock MP has expressed his distress with the announcement that the Bedford Group will be going into Voluntary Administration.
The Bedford Group is one of the oldest Disability Organisations in the state and the second largest supported employer in the state.
The group has given many people with disabilities an opportunity to engage in meaningful work.
Bedford has been an important organisation in Port Pirie for many years.
As Mayor of Port Pirie Regional Council, Geoff had the privilege of meeting with a former CEO Max Dyson and was greatly involved in Bedford establishing a facility on Gertrude Street, Port Pirie.
Geoff is calling on the Federal Government to work with the State Government to ensure the future of the organisation and prevent it from folding.
Bedford has enabled many people with a disability to be supported and has given them the experience and the dignity that work can offer them.
The Port Pirie operation has been a life saver for hundreds of people who may have some form of disability and given them dignity in their travels, with many being able to obtain work opportunities within the private sector.
Again, Geoff asks that a combined Federal and State effort is undertaken to provide Bedford with a future to enable those involved to have a happy future and a positive outcome.
