The Australian and South Australian governments have committed $500 million (80:20) over 10 years to improve the safety and reliability of national freight routes.

What’s happening
Works to improve safety and traffic movements at the junction of the Augusta Highway and Horrocks Pass Road at Winninowie are continuing.

How this affects you
To safely undertake the next stage of works the Augusta Highway northbound rest area, adjacent Horrocks Pass Road junction, will be temporarily closed from Monday 20 October 2025 for approximately 2 months, weather permitting.

Additionally, the Augusta Highway rest area on the southbound approach to the junction will be closed from early November to mid-December, advance notice of this closure will be provided.
Augusta Highway will remain open to traffic at all times.

Speed and lane restrictions remain in place on Augusta Highway and Horrocks Pass Road, including outside of work hours.

Please plan your trips, observe signage and follow traffic management directions while works are in progress.
