New Aged-Care Regulations
Yesterday in Parliament I asked the Minister for Health and Wellbeing, Hon Chris Picton MP, to clarify how the new federal aged care regulations, set to begin on 1 November 2025, will affect state-run aged care facilities—especially those attached to hospitals, like Hammill House in Port Pirie.
The new Aged Care Act 2024 will overhaul how aged care is delivered across Australia, placing a stronger focus on the rights of older people, provider accountability, and funding transparency. But with some aged care services operated by the South Australian Government, I was seeking answers on how these changes will impact local facilities and services that our communities rely on.
