Representing the Minister for Energy and Mining at Goyder South Wind Farm Opening recently.
It was a privilege to represent the Hon Tom Koutsantonis MP, Minister for Energy and Mining, at the official opening of Neoen’s Goyder South Wind Farm near Burra.
This landmark project is now the largest wind farm in South Australia, with 75 turbines generating 412MW of clean energy—enough to power hundreds of thousands of homes and boost our state’s wind generation by over 20%. It’s a major step toward South Australia’s goal of 100% net renewable energy by 2027.
The Goyder South Wind Farm is not only a triumph of engineering and environmental stewardship, but also a testament to the strength of regional communities. Over 400 jobs were created during construction, with long-term roles now supporting the local economy. Neoen’s commitment to community benefit-sharing and the creation of a new national park at Worlds End Gorge shows how renewable energy can deliver lasting social and environmental value.
I commend Neoen, the Ngadjuri Nation, and all partners involved for their vision and collaboration. Projects like this reinforce why South Australia is leading the way in renewable energy.
