✨Celebrating Local Careers at Nyrstar Australia - Port Pirie ✨
Last night, I had the privilege of attending the graduation of Nyrstar Port Pirie’s inaugural Operator Traineeship Program. This program, launched earlier this year, is a fantastic initiative that creates new opportunities for locals to build rewarding careers in heavy industry.
A big thank you to Matt Adams, the program coordinator, and Damon Ganley, Manager – Production, Smelting. Both passionate Port Pirie locals who’ve helped make this program a success!
Congratulations to the six graduates: Allan Fennell, Shannon McGregor, Kurtis Rogers, Chandler Warwick, Austin Harvey, and Byron Grist, who are now moving into permanent roles at the plant!
Nyrstar plans to expand this program in 2026 and beyond, and I commend their commitment to building sustainable career pathways for our community👏
