I had the pleasure of seeing Year 5/6 students from Risdon Park Primary School take part in a fantastic Student Council Proposal Simulation Event. As part of their Civics and Citizenship unit, students have been exploring ways to improve our local community and learning how democracy works in practice.
Each class formed political parties and developed persuasive proposals for Port Pirie. Two parties from each class presented their ideas to the Year 5/6 cohort, followed by a formal voting process using real ballot papers, just like a real election! 🗳️
The winning proposal will be sent to the Port Pirie Regional Council, giving these young leaders a genuine voice in shaping our community.
A big congratulations to all students and staff for their creativity, teamwork, and passion for making a difference. Our future is in great hands!
