I am thrilled to announce the introduction of the iPAVE on SA roads.
The South Australian Government is partnering with the National Transport Research Organisation to collect vital road data by using iPAVE (Intelligent Pavement Assessment Vehicle).
The iPAVE is a truck fitted with a series of lasers and video cameras which assess road texture, condition, and bearing capacity while travelling up to 80 kilometres per hour.
This world-first technology is a game changer for our state which will allow us to assess and maintain roads more efficiently than ever before.
Not only will the iPAVE help our maintenance team make faster informed decisions, it will also be able to undertake road evaluations safely and without disrupting the flow of traffic.
This partnership in innovative technology will have a positive impact on the lives of all South Australians who use our key metropolitan and regional roads every day.
We are committed to improving road safety and ensuring that our communities have access to well maintained, reliable road networks.
