I once again had the absolute pleasure of visiting one of our communities long standing organisations last week, to see this dedicated team hard at work delivering their ready-to-eat meals.
Bungala Aboriginal Corporation deliver over 1,500 meals each week to elderly and vulnerable residents across Far North South Australia, including Port Augusta, Whyalla, Quorn, Coober Pedy, Oodnadatta, Hawker and Wilmington.
This is not just a meal delivery program but an essential service that keeps older people living in their homes for longer. For many, the meals are a primary source of nutrition and assists with those with complex health issues, limited transport or restricted mobility along with providing a sense of social connection.
The outstanding efforts of this team has seen the organisation grow from a 2 person canteen back in 2018 to a 19 person team. They are now looking to expand some more which will increase their capacity to be able to deliver 5,000 meals per week and create 9 new jobs, including 5 new Aboriginal traineeships annually.
Bungala you have my total support!!
